E-cigs are looked at as a smoking alternative because they don't burn tobacco, they don't smell, and they don't need a light. People sitting near you will say, "It Looks like a cigarette", you'll say, "it feels and tastes like a cigarette." But it's not a cigarette. Here's how E-cigarettes work:

An electronic cigarette, or e-cigarette, is an electrical device that attempts to simulate the act of tobacco smoking by producing an inhaled mist bearing the physical sensation, appearance, and often the flavor and nicotine content of inhaled tobacco smoke. The device uses heat, or in some cases ultrasonics, to vaporize a propylene glycol- or glycerin-based liquid solution into an aerosol mist, similar to the way a nebulizer or humidifier vaporizes solutions for inhalation. Smokeless Cigarettes

How E-Cigs work is very similar to the MMJ Vaporizer. E-cigarettes typically consist of a cartridge, an atomizer, and a battery unit. The battery powers the unit, and is typically a rechargeable lithium ion variety. The atomizer, the heart of the system, heats the liquid solution, without burning, into "steam" which can then be inhaled. The cartridge contains your choice of flavor, and a nicotine solution with propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin. Inhale and exhale vapor, not smoke. Higher quality e-cigarettes will combine the cartridge and atomizer into a single unit nicknamed "cartomizer".

Cigarette Alternative

Many people use tobacco products in many different ways. Some choose chewing tobacco, pipes, or nicotine patches. E-cigarettes are preferred by many as a cigarette substitute because the user gets the physical sensation (which can be as addicting as the nicotine), the social interaction, and the freedom to partake when needed.

E-cigarettes may vary well be the best way to enjoy a smoke. With most brands, you'll save money over traditional cigarettes, smoke in relative peace, smoke without disturbing your friends and neighbors, and have better control over your nicotine habit than with other methods.
